Who are we working with?
We are a part of Sustainable Global Technologies Studio course in Aalto University, so we will be working closely with teachers and mentors related to the course. Our project contributes to a joint project called AgriSCALE, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The aim of AgriSCALE is to promote the reformation of agri-entrepreneurship education in Sub-Saharan Africa. The implementation of AgriSCALE is arranged by nine universities, which locate in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Finland and Italy. The key stakeholders, that we are working closely with in our SGT project, are Egerton University from Kenya and Häme University of Applied Sciences from Finland.
What is our project about?
As our project is a part of their PBL methodology, we intend to contribute by focusing on the current problem of less sustainable cooking fuel used in Kenya, such as firewood, kerosene and coal. We will tackle the issue by raising awareness campaign on such topic as making use of local invasive plants to produce bioethanol, which also helps in controlling their growth. We have also planned to facilitate workshops and interviews with various stakeholders that would contribute to achieving new knowledge of the status of making bioethanol more common.
