KENYA: Supporting selected water utilities in assessing their revenue collection potential and improving their financial sustainability The Sustainable Water Management project (SUWAMA)
The challenging task of managing water resources is assigned to community-based Water Resources Users Associations (WRUAs). However, these WRUAs often struggle to finance their operations. Promoting their financial sustainability would contribute to better water resource management and conservation without the need for external funding. The main output of the project will be the development of financial sustainability action plans for six selected water utilities.

UGANDA: Envisioning a thriving and self reliant community of Katanga in terms of water needs. Project Amaka, PBL East Africa
Amaka means ’home’ in Luganda, the language of people of Katanga. Katanga is an ’informal settlement’ in the floodplain region between Makerere University and Mulago Hospital in Kampala. This challenge mainly addresses WASH factors and housing needs of the community, which struggles to meet its daily needs, as the core focus of the project. The Aalto student team is working along with the student team from Makerere University learning about the community and combining their efforts and skills to develop a vision for Katanga.
